Pod coffee machines are ideal for coffee drinkers who can’t be bothered with roasting beans, spooning ground coffee or even boiling a kettle. These machines use pods of coffee that are essentially the coffee equivalent of tea bags. Ground coffee is contained within a disposable plastic pod which is placed into the machine. Water is then heated up to the ideal temperature and forced through the pod into the cup below. Some machines allow you to place in additional milk pods to create espresso type coffees, and others leave it up to you to add milk afterwards. Although this makes a consistent cup of coffee this is also one of its setbacks. You are limited to the strength of the coffee contained in the pods, and are usually only able to make one cup at a time. This type of machine is great for an individual user who likes to cut corners, but not so ideal when there are several people waiting for a drink as these will have to be made consecutively.
