Comet Reviews
Comet live electricals, and kitchen appliances are no exception. Comet is owned by parent company KESA Electricals plc which was founded in Hull in 1933 by George Hollingberry. In 2005 comet underwent a £20 million makeover following concerns that its image and logo were very similar to competitor Currys, who also specialise in retailing electrical appliances. Comet is the second largest electrical retailer after rivals Currys.
Comet operates a policy known as Every Day Low Pricing in which they check their prices for thousands of items in comparison to their competitors and reduce prices where there is a difference. This is backed up by a “price promise”, in which Comet will refund the difference if the product is found cheaper at an alternative retailer within 10 miles. This service does not apply to their online store, or where other online services offer cheaper prices.
Comet offers a home delivery service for a standard fee. Small items incur a smaller charge and very large items like USA style fridge freezers will cost more than double the standard charge to be delivered. There is also free delivery for some options, and a next day delivery service for people who need an item in a hurry. Comet’s online store features all items you will find in their high street stores, as well as many items exclusive to the internet.
As well as their delivery option, Comet provides a service called Click and Collect. With this service you can order an item on the Comet website and arrange to pick it up in store at a later date. This can be handy if you do not want to pay delivery charges, but you want to ensure an item is available before you travel all the way to their store. Items can be reserved until the end of the next working day, and you do not have to pay until you collect the item from the store.
